Mrs H. Geisslcr, of Whangarei, left' last night for Hamilton, having been called thither on account of the very serious illness of her father. A Sydney cable message says that; Sir Archibald and Lady Edmonstonc, also Lord and Lady Sonierleyton, whtf are at present visiting Australia, intend to proceed to New Zealand shortly.
Telegraphic advice from Te Awamufcu. today says that after 29 years' serviceas clerk of the Waipa County Council Mr Bowden retires at the end of March. Councillors felicitated him'at yesterday's meeting, saying that he had it wonderful record, as he 'had never missed a meeting throughout the term.
