BUTTER-FAT RECORDS.

THE SILVEEDALE HEED. The dispersal sale of pedigree Jerseys to be held on March 25 on account of Mr Gr. Hodgson, of Whakaparri, will present an opportunity for dairymen to secure some very fine butter-fat producing animals. Proud Fox, the herd sire, has a double infusion of the Majesty Fox blood and the record of some of his daughters is as follows: —

Records of Proud Fox's daughters, all sired before he was two years three months old: —Silverdale Jean, 567.30 fat at one year 327 days; Silverdale Jean, 764 fat at junior four years (calved too late to qualify); Silverdale Dot, 481.75 fat at junior three-years; Silverdale Joan, 507 fat at junior three years (this cow was injured and withdrawn at 283 days); Silverdale Prim, 451.88 fat at one year 278 days; Silverdale Stella, 538.18 fat at two years 337 days; Silverdale Alma, 430.15 fat at one year • 291 days; Silver'dale Charm, 394.30 fat at one year 229 days; Silverdale Benora, 363.18 fat at one year 283 days; Silverdale Butterfly, 362.99 fat at one year 212 days; Silverdale Lucky, 372.74 fat at one year 289 days; Silverdale Bella, 387.52 fat at, one year 355 days; Silverdale Nell, 436.44 fat at three years one day; Silverdale Kildare, 457.97 fat at one year 339 days (second class); Silverdale Garnet, 321 fat at one year 289 days; Silverdale Jennie, 433 fat at junior two years (calved too late to qualify). Most of the above records were put up in a dry season when my crops failed, I having 22 under test that season. As an instance of this, Joan produced that season as a junior two-year 397 fat, while the past season she produced as a junior three-year 507 fat. Charm, one of the above-mentioned cows, lost one full month through her milk weight being burnt.
