FALSE DECLARATION.
ECONOMIC PENSION OBTAINED. GISBORNE, This Day, A returned soldier, William H. Richards, was charged at the Magistrate's Court with malting a false declaration in order to obtain a pension. It Was stated that accused, while receiving the ordinary war pension, obtained an economic pension in addition by falsely declaring that he was unemployed, whereas for some months he was constantly engaged. Counsel stated that accused was tempted as a result of sickness and inability to maintain his family. I Accused was convicted and ordered j to come up for sentence within six i months and to pay costs of 7s.—Press j Assn.
