SUDDEN DELUGE
INUNDATES ADELAIDE. CLOUDBURST EXPERIENCED. SENSATIONAL INCIDENTS. (Received 11.10 a.m.) ADELAIDE, This Day. A cloudburst over the city caused the streets to be flooded. Water poured over the kerbstones into practically every basement in the city. Considerable damage was done. The Government Meteorologist estimates that 100,000,000 gallons of water fell in the city proper, Five inches was registered in two and a quarter hours. The downpour was heaviest in North Adelaide. Two Civil Servants "were struck by lightning while standing at an office window, but were not seriously injured. A young woman was swept off her feet while attempting to cross a flooded street and was carried into a culvert, from where she was rescued with extreme difficulty.—A. and N.Z.
