GENERAL AND PERSONAL
The weather is delightful, warm and summer-like, bringing holiday makers and picnic parties to the splendid ocean beaches in search of enjoyment and health. On Sunday Mr Harris brought a large party down the river in his launch to enjoy the life-giving breezes from the Pacific Ocean. Air W. Simons also came down with his launch full of Whangarei people. Needless to ' say, they all enjoyed themselves immensely. The day wtas all that could be desired; the heat w*as tempered by a sea breeze and everything was lovely. Mr Sands came in liis launch and paid a visit to his brother in the Kaitea. Fish are still plentiful in the river. Mr J. Grogan left with his team of bullocks to start a contract at Whareora to fall and cross-cut kauri and other timber. Mr Marson has undertaken the cross-cutting with Air P. Gilbert and expects to be there a month. On Saturday Mr Williams went to Whangarei. On Tuesday Mr and Mrs Ferguson, of Tutukaka, left for Auckland; also Mrs Hughes and Mrs Langman for Whangarei. Airs and Miss Saunders, who liad been on a visit Mrs Grogan, left for Russell. Mr ana Mrs R. Shoebridge and Miss Shoei»ridgo paid a visit to their parents on Sunday. Airs McDonald arrived on Tuesday. Mr Larson is very unwell and inot able to do anything in the shape of work.
