LET DOWN LIGHTLY.

MAIMOA STOWAWAYS,

"THE RIGHT TYPE."

AUCKLAND, This Day.

At the Magistrate's Court to-day four men, ranging from 22 to 27 years of age, admitted being stowaways on the steamer Maimoa from Liverpool to Auckland. They stated that they were unable to get work in England and decided to try New Zealand. The captain of the Maimoa said there seemed to be no limit to stowaways; perhaps next voyage there would be a dozen. Mr Poynton: "Well, you know what it is to be out of work. They could see prospects out here and I must say these men seem of the right type." He ordered them to come up for sentence if called on. —Press Assn.
