A telegraphic message says that the Governor-General and Viscountess Jellicoe, who are making a farewell itinerary, left Xapier this morning for Masterton.
Senior-Sergeant O'Grady, of Waihi, who lias been appointed to fill the vacancy on the local police staff occasioned by the transference of SubInspector Hollis, will arrive!, in Whangarei by the express train from Auckland this afternoon.
The Deputy Mayor, Mr W. U. Timewell and the County Chairman, Mr W. Jones, are at present in Auckland attending the conference of local authority delegates in connection with the Motor Vehicles Bill. They are accompanied by the town clerk, Mr C. L. Grange, and the county clerk, Mr H. C. Hemphill.
At the annual meeting in Hamilton of t'he New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company Mr William Goodfellow announced that owing to ill-health he found it necessary to withdraw from the position of managing director, but would continue to act in an advisory capacity. General regret was expressed bv the meeting. Mr A. J. Sinclair was appointed to succeed Mr Goodfellow.
