NEWSPAPER ADVERTISING.

MOST I'OITLAR MEDIUM

That newspaper advertising is by far the most popular i■;rm of publicity in New Zealand was proved recently by an investigation conducted by the Charles Haines Advertising Agency, Ltd., of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. A questionnaire was sent to hundreds of business houses throughout New Zealand seeking the relative value of different media according to the actual experiences of substantial advertisers.

An analysis of the replies showed that 110 less than 95 per cent of New Zealand publicists prefer newspapers above all other methods of advertising, a.nd of that number 8(5 per cent prefer daily newspapers. These practical conclusions, of course, simply support the principles that have long since been discovered in this country, although they are probably not known to the great bulk of the general public.

Xot only is newspaper advertising the most popular medium of publicity but it is also the most effective and economical —in New Zealand at any rate. In this Dominion there is roughly one

newspaper to every 7000 men, women and children of the population. This is a world's record, as a. comparson with other countries illustrates. New Zealanders are the greatest newspaper-readers on tlw face of the globe.
