WEMBLEY EXHIBITION. TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR. LONDON, August 22. Terrible thunderstorms and torrential rain are again a feature of this amazing summer Wembley Stadium resembles a lake, and 6in of water is registered on the racing track. The avenues in the musical section of the Palace of Industry are flooded, and exhibits have, had to be removed. Women and children were carried over portions of the ground.
Water poured under the .doors of the Burraah pavilion, and chairs floated around the bandstands.
The concussion of a thunderclap smashed the windows of fifteen houses
in Braintree, Essex. Several 'houses were wrecked or fired in other districts. Floods occurred in Bristol.—A. and N.Z.
