CLOSE RESEMBLANCE. MAORIS AND COAST INDIANS. (Received 12.20 p.m.) WASHINGTON, August 2,°.. A message from Seattle states that Dr. Macmillan Brown, Chancellor of the University of New Zealand, has returned there. He is studying islands and stretches of the mainland on the North Pacific Coast with the object of investigating the origin of natives of the Pacific Ocean and confirming the findings of Cook, Vancouver, Portlock and other early explorers. He states that he believes that because the Coast Indians do not make pottery or grow cereals they came to America hundreds of years before the true Red Indians.
