LENGTHY PARLEY.
FRENCH CHAMBER PROSPECT.
(Received 12.10 p.m.)
PARIS, August 22,
The Chamber has begun the debate on M. Herriot's statement. Although! no doubt the Prime Minister will obtain a substantial majority there is al prospect of a series of long speeches in! the Chamber and the Senate. Thus the discussion will probably not end before the middle of nest week at the earliest. i
M. Herriot stated that Mr Mac* Donald's letter regarding evacuation! of the Ruhr 7 was handed to hinv inj London before the pact was concluded* before Mr MaeDpnald's speech and'be* fore the Ruhr question was settled: Hβ' pointed out that the.Germans and the) French had submitted their own view-* points on the Ruhr question- and Mr, MaeDonald had quite rightfully presented the British viewpoint} therefore! it was unjust to interpret Mr MacDonald's action as a wrongful proceed* ing or a disavowal of the agreements reached in London. —Reuter.
