BASKET BALL.

COUNTRY SCHOOLS' CONTEST. 011 Friday the weather proved especially kind to the out-districts, when Whatitiri, Maungatapere and Titoki engaged in a series of basket ball matches. The Whatitiri pupils played an active, vigorous game, while Maungatapere were steady and better organised, but slower. The Titoki team was well trained by the teachers and was so well organised that it carried a win against both the other teams. The winners, however, could observe the rules more carefully. Mr R. A. Watson, headmaster of Titoki School, acted as referee. Titoki beat Whatitiri by 13 goals to i, and also beat Maungatapere by 35 to 5.
