Having lost the toss the Northerners* had to face a strong sun-glare in thflf first spell. McLeod kicked off and plajfl was rushed to the North line, whietf was well cleared by a long kick frontf Emerson. The ball was taken by Carlson (King Country), who opened up the play and sent on to Brimial, whos€| kick was smothered. Warmington got! possession and put in a fine run, but? was tackled, and play hung in midfield, where a series of serums ensued. Tha' Northerners were not getting the ball from the loose. Moslen secured and made a fine run up the line and looked like scoring, but was tackled byHarty* Brvne, the King Country captain,opened up play to the centre an*--transferred to Carlson, tvho returned the pass,, but Wade's defence at fullback was too solid to penetrate. Play was very ragged for some time. As a result of very fine play Sowmaii (Whangarei) got over, but the referee, Mr Robinson, disallowed the try. Play; was up and down field and very fast. From a scrum in the Northerners' 25" Carlson secured, and cut in very nicely ftnd transferred to McDonald, wha scored a good try. Raleigh's kick failed.—King Country 3, North Auckland O.

Dare had to retire and Hamilton his place on resuming. North Aucklanlßß playing with more dash and determination, took play to the local 25. Walters opened the play, but was well tackled by Wnrmington. From a scrum Cunningham sent 011 to Brydon, to Hamilton, who ran through and sent on to Simonsen, who was well tackled by Carlson. The North Auckland forwards, with Emerson in the lead, took play* within the local 25, where the ball was clearetl bv Parrant.
