THE PEOPLE'S COLUMN.

[Our columns are quite open to the public for the discussion of matters of public concern. We invite correspondence, but do not identify ourselves with the views expressed by our correspondents.—Ed.] A WORD OF WARNING. (To the Editor.) Sir, —In the interest of public safety 1 feel it niv duty to urge our worthy police officers to be on the alert for those intoxicated motorists who are all too f'roquently seen on our public roads, especially the Whangarei-Pakotui road.

If some prompt measures are not taken there v.-ill suiely be another serious accident, to say nothing of the suspense other motorists are put to when they know in going round a corner they are liable to run into t'hese people ou the wrong side of the road. I hope the first offender in. this respect will be dealt with in a manner that will act

as a deterrent to others. —I am, etc.,

SOBER MOTORIST
