Many years ago the ship Star of Tasmania was wrecked off Oamaru, with the loss of a number of lives. A portion of the timber from the wreck was utilised for building purposes on the property of Mrs Munro, at Otekaike. This timber (states the "North Otago Times") has now been presented by Mrs Munro to the Oamaru cemetery, and is being used to construct a fence round the graves of the seamen who lost their lives in the, wreck of | tiro vessel.
