WANTON WASTE.

THE PEOPLE PENALISED. MR MASTERS , QUESTIONS. (Special to "Northern Advocate.' , ') WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr E. Masters (Stratford) alleged.in the House yesterday that lax administration had proved costly to New .Zealand of late. He said that through the inability of the Minister of Finance to fix the responsibility there had been considerable losses to the country, and he asked if in the circumstances it was any wonder that taxation was so heavy. Who was responsible for lending money with the result that £8000 which was advanced without security was lost? How long was this sort of thing to go on? How much longer was the people's money to be frittered away in this fashion? How much longer was such wasteful expenditure to go on? Such things would not bo tolerated for five minutes in private 'business.
