ROUNDABOUT CHASE.
CONSTABLE EVENTUAL WINNER. WELLINGTON, This Day. • The police lately have been searching for a man alleged to be concerned ia altering a £l note to £20. A constable came across a man in a Clyde Quay, hotel bar whose appearanecf agreed with that of the wanted maiU He was having a drink at the momeTifr and when 'the constable quietly tol3 him that his presence at the .police: station was desired the man seemed willing enough to go along, but aske'd to be. allowed to finish his drink. Instead of doing this he dashed oui of the door and, closely followed byltfhe policeman, went in and out of several nearby streets at a rapid pace. JU crowd gathered to watch the race ana the fugitive dashed through them, thus gaining oa his pursuer. The latter, however, jumped on a motor lorry anfl made up some of the lost ground. Eventually he upon the man ifl private premises in a street a little distance from the start of the chase and arrested him. The man gave the name of Harrison. He appears at Court to-day.—Press Assn.
