TEHERAN TURMOIL.
ALLEGATIONS CONTRADICTED.
POLICE DID DUTY.
(Received 1 p.m.) : DELHI, July 28. The Persian Consul-General at Bombay publishes the text of a letter from the Foreign Minister deploring the recent murder 'of Major Imbrie, American Vice-Consul, and an American civilian. The letter contradicts the statement in the protest by foreign diplomats in Teheran to the Persian Government that the police and military took no steps to protect the victims from the infuriated mob, and contends that so vigorous was the action of the forces of the law that three armed police and one soldier were killed and others injured. Rigorous punishment 'of the offenders is promised.—Sun. GUARANTEES DEMANDED. THREAT TO SEVER RELATIONS. (Received 1.35 p.m.) WASHINGTON, July 28. America has sent a note to Teheran threatening to break relations with Persia unless the guilty are punished for the murder of Major Imbrie. The note demands guarantees for the protection of American officials in Persia. —Sun.
