SCOUT JAMBOREE

ROYAL INSPECTION.

THE EMPIRE PAGEANT.

MARRED BY BAD WEATHER,

(Received 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, July 28. Drenching rain intermingled . -with an unseasonable snowfall was responsible for the cancellation of to-day's performance of the Empire Pageant. It also slightly interfered with the Royal inspection of 600 Scouts from all over the Empire who are attending the Jamboree. Despite the downpour, the boys marched whistling to Buckingham Palace, where the inspection was held at the riding school instead of in the quadrangle. Each detachment was grouped under its own flag, which was dipped in salute to the King, who shook hands with the Scoutmasters and delivered a homily to the boys on the soundness of Scout precepts. —Reuter.
