Lord Long opened the Metallurgical Congress at Wembley, the object of which is to discuss scientific, technical and economic problems connected with the development of the mineral resources of the Empire and forming an Empire Council ,pf mining and metallurgical institutions. Referring to oil Lord Long said there was a very great potential source of oil in the Empire in large shale deposits and in torbanite, which is similar to shale, but containing a much larger proportion of high-grade oil. The Empire's mining resources in oil and other products were enormous. She had the mines and the men. —Reuter.
