The deceased pre* late was 00 years of age. Mr C. C. Dysait has been appointed commissioner for the Whananaki school district, the "householders having failed to elect a committee. Mr Chas. M. McCullough, Inspector of the Mercantile Insurance Ltd., is at present in Whangarei aiitf is staying at the Settlers' Hotel. Mr T. H. Patterson, Instructor Agriculture, and departmental charge of work at the Puwera Expeßmental Farm arrived in Whangarei this morning. . The appointment of Miss M. G. D. H. Hows, of Waikiekie West, as solq teacher at Ruatangata East was confirmed yesterday by the Auckland Education Board. Miss Y. Carson wag temporarily appointed sole teacher at Helena Bay. , Miss Mary Wigley, who has beeni seriously ill in Whangarei for somGf, time past, has recently made rapid progress towards restoration of normal health.
