THE Y.W.C.A.
MISS ANDERSON'S VISIT. One of the heartiest and best attended of the special Y.W.C.A. meetings in Whanga.vei was the final one, held on Monday evening. Once more the club room was filled to it's utmost capacity. The programme opened with music and competitions. Miss Anderson's theme on this occasion dealt with girls' activities in every country, from the New World, in South as well as North America, to the Old World. In Athens, she- said, the old Royal Palace has a new decoration for its golden staircase, for that, together with the magnificent old entrance hall, is now a Y.W.C.A. club centre for hundreds of girls. A full Y.W.C.A. programme is being carried out successfully in the new States of Europe that have come into existence since the w;u\ Latvia has an excellent Association, with Riga as its headquarters, while Esthonia and Roumania went the length of running special holiday camps for the first time last summer. Dealing with the Orient. Miss Anderson spoke of its few - splendid women doing Y.W.C.A. work from Australia and New Zealand —two in India and one each in China and Japan. Each Association in Australia and New Zealand is expected to contribute a certain sum for their support. Ways and means of raising this sum were discussed in committee and the Whnngarei girls now hope to make a special effort by a sale of work about the end of July. At the conclusion of the address Mrs Speer, voicing the appreciation of all. thanked Miss Anderson for the help and inspiration Miss Anderson's visit had given those who had managed to attend the meetings. It was a new vision of what was being done by women the world over.
