ANOTHER MINOR MATCH. NEW ZEALANDER'S CENTURY. TIMARU, This Day. The New South Wales cricket team began a match against South Canterbury yesterday. The local team batted first and. made 206 (J. Kane 108, Hind 19, Bowles 13). Kippax took ;two wickets for 54, Ratcliffe, 1 for 20, Andrews 1 for 33, Mailey 3 for 4S and "Macartney 3 for 9. New South Wales put on 111 without the loss of a wicket (Punch 63, Mullarkey 28). Kame played with great confidence. He was missed at 18, and then hit ail Tound the wicket, but with Some further luck. He reached the century in a little over 100 miuntes, being the first New Zealander to obtain this distinction against the visitors. Eventually he. "was stumped off Macartney for 108, including 18 boundaries and ?one six. On New South Wales going in Punch and Mullarkey scored much as they pleasfed, the former hitting out and the latter being mostly content with > singles.—'•Press Assn.
