CROQUET TOURNAMENT.
MRS WALKER WINS SINGLES. ; The Whangarei Croquet Club's tonr-*"" nament was brought to a condusio*: to-day when the singles contest wwfc decided, and it resulted in Mrs Walker, the winner of section 2, gaining ' the championship.' The semi-finals and finals were the best two out of three gam£s. Mr» Walker beat Mrs Bray after a good contest and then defeated Mrs Craae.' The last game was an exciting one, Mrs Crane playing up well and gra- v dually improving her position after Mrs Walker had pegged out one balL It was decided that the competitor* should play a progressive tournament to-morrow afternoon. | Visiting players were the gpests of | the president of the club, Mrs Armstrong, this afternoon and were taken I for a drive to the principal places of | interest and beauty in the borough. .
