FORGOTTEN FAME.
It is necessary to keep on the job to achieve or work toward an achievement every clay. Many of the old out-at-elbows loafers are men who, having done one big thing, thought people would remember it. A solicitor called upon a colleague, and asked liis advice upon a point of law. The lawyer whose opinion had been nought said: "I generally get paid for what I know.'' The questioner thereupon took half a crown out of his pocket, handed it to the other, and remarked: "Tell me all you know, and keep the change!" Englishman: "What will you take?" Frenchman: "I will take a drop of ze contradiction.'' Englishman: "Contradiction! What on earth do you mean?" Frenchman: "Veil, you put in ze whisky to make it strong, ze winter to make it weak, ze lemon to make it sour, and ze sugar to make it sweet. Den you say, ' Here's to you!' and you take it yourself." Jones: "I was robbed last night, and f>3 articles were stolen from me,' everything I had in the worl.l" Policeman: "Fifty-three articles?"' Jones: "Yes, a pack of cards find a corkscrew." Optimism parts the clouds and the tangles and costs nothing.
