RIFLE SHOOTING.

WHAXGAREI CLUB RESULTS. At the customary weekly shoot ! v members of the Wliangarei Rifle Club held at Otaika a sweepstake shoot of 10 shots at 200 and .100 yards took place under weather conditions which were bright sunshine, with a varying right wind of from 2 to 5 degrees The winner was Rflm. E. Foot, wh<f has shot consistently throughout the scrips, and he was awarded a goldmounted cigarette holder, • together witli two-thirds of the sweepstake mcMey. Rifleman iJ. Norris .yecured second position. Prior to the opening of shooting, the President. Mr P. J. Tobin, presented the trophies won during last year. The Tattersfield trophy went to ex-Presi-dent .T. P. White, who generously redonated it, and it was subsequently won by Rflm. P. P. Jones. For the Norris trophy, which was a handsome leather shooting bag, Rflm. C. Baker was the winner. Mr W. U. Timewetl's trophy was .won by Rflm. G. Neville. Ex-President J. White's prize fell to Rflm. L. Tobin, and Vice-President W. M. Nutsford's trophy went to Pres. P. .T. Tobin, as also did the silver spoon. Pres. Tobin's prize, a handsome gold raedai, suitably inscribed, was won by Rflm. J. Harland. The several recipients were roundly acclaimed and made suitable responses. The "B" Championship was won by Pres. D. Patterson, of the Marsden unit, and on behalf of the recipient Rflm. D. P. Jones made a- most appro* private acknowledgment. At the conclusion or the prize-giving lusty cheers were given for ex-President J. P. White arid Pres. P. J.< Tobin.
