POPULAR. TEACHER DEPARTS,
A pleasing little function took place at the Maungokaramoa school on Friday last, occasion being the farewelling of Miss Whittrm, the assistant mistress, on the eve of her departurefrom the distrirt. On re-assembling after the b*ueh hour, J.-rm I-.nrvey, on behfiTf Op .t.'--> school printed Miss WhiHon with a. china afternoon tca-ri-t. the present being • handed to the departing t.acher bv two of the
vouncrest. primer N f, r : na Thomson and Edgnr Child. Miss Whitton'.suitably thanked the children- for the beautiful . gift and said it would always remind her of the Maungakaramra school. In wishing them good-bye she hoped the children would V as good to the new teacher as they had been to h?r. A hearty hand-clap terminated the proceedings. CONCERT AND DANCE. A successful concert and dance was held in the hall on Friday night in aid of the Whangarei' Anglican Church parochial funds. All the items were thoroughly enjoved. e-sreeially the farce entitled "The Bnt.hroom Door." Supper was pnrtaken of after the concert, followed by a dance.
