' During tliose cold night* when the lubricant in tho gearbox tends to set hard, it will make for easier starting and less strain, it! the car is left in geir over night. The change to neutral prior to starting up, helps to loosen the lubricant, which would otherwise present a fairly solid resistance for a few minutes.
