PARLIAMENT
THE NEW MINISTER.
ANNOUNCEMENT PENDING.
ESTIMATES READY
(Special to "Northern Advocate.") WELLINGTON, This Day.
The Cabinet had a prolonged meeting on Saturday last for six hours. At its conclusion, the Prime Minister stated that the chief business concerned measures to be brought down "by the Government in the present session.
It was learned that the statement made by a certain section of the Press that Mr R. F. Bollard had been appointed to the Ministry was not correct, and tfiat the statement that Mr Bollard would be given the portfolio of Native Affairs was also wide of the mark. It is not contemplated that administration of Native Affairs will be removed from, the hands of the Hon. J. G. Coates. It is now considered likely that a special Gazette 'will be issued to-day or to-morrow appointing the new Minister,' and there is no reason to depart from last Wednesday's forecast that Mr Bollar-d is likely to be chosen. Mr Ma&sey indicated that a number of Government Bills would "he brought down to-morrow, but did not dispose their imtuTe. The heads of the Treasury were in constant attendance on the Prime Minister on Saturday, so it is safe to assume that the Estimates, which are now ready, and financial Bills will 'be forthcoming when the House meets to-morrow, afternoon. ===== i
