SHEEP DOG TRIALS.

NORTH ISLAND ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the North Island Sheep Dog Trial Association was held at Dannevirke. Mr R. D. D. McLean, of Napier, patron of the association, occupied the chair. On the motion of Mr R. J. Macdonald, seconded by Mr C. Thorn, Mr R. D. McLean was unanimously re-elected patron amid applause. Mr McLean thanked the delegates for the honour conferred upon him. He had taken a very keen interest in dog trials for many years, and was very pleased to know that they had a fine lot of shepherds and some splendid types of dogs. He was gratified that many of their shepherds retained Mae before their names (laughter) and that was as it should be (renewed laughter). ' Mr D. L. Blytlie, of Wanganui, was unanimously elected president. Mr A. McGlashan, of Kereru, was appointed judge for next year's trials. It was decided that in future the executive be seven in number, and the following were elected: Messrs H. Sloane (North Auckland), T. Muir (Main Trunk), A. T. Hunter (Wanganui), W. H. Gaisford (Dannevirke), W. Macfarlane (Central Hawke's Bay), W. "Whyte (Gisborne) and J. R. Corrigan, M.P. (Haw'era). . Mr D. L. Blythe (Wanganui) moved: That the 1924 championship meeting be allocated to Wanganui and it was carried unanimously. Mr J. Herbert (Poverty Bay) moved that the .1925 championship trials be allotted to Poverty Bay, and it was caried. Some time was devoted to remits dealing with alterations to the rules,„ which were dealt with as follows:— 1. —Class 11., Gate.I—The1 —The word "left" be rescinded and the following substituted: "Can be opened from either side." Also rescind the following: "Competitor may use a stick not exceeding three feet in length remit was rejected and the second in all classes." —The first part of the remit was rejected and the second agreed to. 2.—Class 11, Hurdles.—The following be rescinded: "Through which sheep must be put from right," and the following substituted: "That hurdles be placed in centre of chain drive, through, which , sheep may be put from cither side.-^Carriod. 3. —Rules and regulations. —Rule four be rescinded and the following ,TTo substituted: "A competitor may enter any number of dogs in any class.—Carried.

4—For sheep dog trials at agricultural and pastoral shows, and sports: Entries must be accepted from any person who is eligible to compete at any ■iissocation (log trials. In the event of an A and P. Association refusing to comply with this rule, their application for permit be refused. —Lost. The secretary said 'the alterations would not come into force until the 1024 trials.
