THE LIGHT BRIGADE.
ANOTHER LINK SEVERED. (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 3. The death has taken place of W. Pennington, who took part in the charge of the Light Brigade in the Crimea. He was a trumpeter, but denied that he sounded the charge as the cavalry went into the "Valley of Death" on the verbal order, and said no trumpet note was heard that day. —•A. and N.Z.
