Something more than the ordinary everyday bread and butter lines are looked for during the Christmas season and as a rule the daily papers are •eagerly scanned by the shopping publican order to find out where the necessary stocks are offering, because there is so much, extra to buy and so little -time to do it in. The most important rfjmction in all homes is that of the •Christmas dinner and if that falls fla u -the pleasure one anticipates disappears -as if by magic. No Christmas dinner Is complete without a nice assortment of vegetables and sometimes these arc hard to procure. This year, however, Leatherby Bros,, the fruiterers, greengrocers and confectioners in Cameron Street announce that they will have full stocks of everything necessary. Some weeks ago Mr. Leatherby, hav- I ing in mind the necessities of the ■Christmas season, made due provision "by planting and sowing extra quantities, which has now enabled him to supply beans, peas, lettuce, tomatoes, • cucumbers, vegetable marrows and potatoes absolutely fresh direct from his •own gardens. It was not only in the vegetable seclion that Mr. Leatherby looked ahead. IFruit is especially in big demand at •this time of the year and he has made •due provision for heavy purchases on •.the part on the public. Recognising -that fruit forms an important part of 'the menu during the Christmas festivities Mr. Leatherby wishes it to be known that he has full stocks of plums, :strawberries, oranges, apples, lemons, bananas and gooseberries, but stresses 4he point that those who are wise will rsend in their ordexs xiglit away and so :save disappointment. Case lots of assorted fruits, to suit customers' requirements, will be carefully packed ..and dispatched.

Begarding confectionery, heavy :stocks of everything in the sweetmeat I "line are carried. On the fixtures and j Tinder glass cases there is a comprehensive collection from the world's best -makers, including Fry's, Cadbury's, "itountree's, and Neilson's, as well as the leading makers of the Dominion. The range of chocolate is exceptionally large and these are to be hud from the Tiandsome box at 30/ down to the 1/ -carton. The whole of the stocks in -this department are absolutely fresh, an entirely new shipment displacing all old stocks about six weeks ago. Apart from the foregoing but none the less important is the soda fountain drink. All kinds and descriptions of cool drinks are made and dispensed and for picnic and other parties thcra is obtainable syrups in bottle quantifies. Cordials made by local manufacturers are also purchasable. Nuts as a general rule find great favour at this period of the year and at Leathefby's can be obtained all varieties, including Hazel, Brazilian, "Walnuts, Coconuts, Peanuts -and eating almonds.
