NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. METHODS OF JUDGING. AUCKLAND, This Dav. The annual conference of the Now Zealand Boxing Council resolved that amateur boxers shall, when required by an association to do sign an agreement when they agree to any engagement; that in amateur bouts there shall be two judges and a referee and the referee must be outside the ring. In professional bouts the place for the referee shall be optional with the promoting body. A committee was appointed to consider a scheme to require referees to qualify for their positions. It was resolved that all officials of associations affiliated to the New Zealand Boxinr* Council shall be debarred from acting as trainers or seconds to principals in any boxing contest, and that resident professional purses shall be limited to £200, including expenses. A proposal to fix the division of purses in professional bouts was dismissed, but no resolution was carried. —Press Assn.
