TENNIS MATCH,
A very lively and interesting tennis tournament was held at the Tapuh;. courts last Saturday, the Kawakawa Club coming to try conclusions with the Tapuhi Club. The weather was all that could be desired and the players in the ibest of ,spirits. The Tapuhi ladies provided an excellent luncheon and afternoon tea, which were served under a nikau pavilion erected by the ■male members of the club. The Ivawakuws players arrived by car about 11 a.m. After luncheon the play begin, and the three courts were kept filled for the next four hours. On the conclusion of the games afternoon tea was served. The Tvawakawa team was the success ful one. The following are th<? results of the games, the Kawakawa players being named first, ih each case: — Ladies' Singles. —Miss Foster 7 v Miss W. Hedley 2, Miss Morgan 7 v Miss N. Hedley 6, Reid and Willar 9 v Bain and H. 5, Bridgo and Cleary 9 v A. Hedley and J. Hayter 4. Mr Bain, captain of the Tapuhi Club, called for three cheers for the Kawakawa Club. Mr Millar, on behalf of the Kawakawa Club, returned the compliment with chcers for Tapuhi . The visitors then departed for home, after expressing themselves pleased with their day's outing. DEPARTING MINISTER The Rev. J. H. Allen, Methodist minister of Kawakawa, preached his farewell service in the district on Sunday. A good congregation assembled to see the last of Mr Allen, who has been popular in the district. After closing th e service Mr Allen thanked one and all for all the kindness <and good wishes he had received from the settlers. Mr Allen leaves to take up duties in the Paparoa district. Mr Blackmore, of Hauraki Plains, takes Mr Allen's place. PERSONAL Miss Bowler, of Auckland, is vi/iting Tapuhi and is the guest of her aunt, Mrs .T. Nelson.
