AMERICA'S CLAIM.
FOR GERMAN *MONEY. PUNGENT FRENCH CRITICISM. • PARIS, March 13. The 'Gaulois," commenting on the American claim for th j maintenance of the Rhine army, says: "America unexpectedly claims her part of the legitimate booty exacted from Germany. Tomorrow, perhaps, America may exact payment of her debts. What will it profit her to ruin our unhappy Continent? What will she gain by raising, with our milliards, alongside the Statue of Liberty, a grandiose monument to the Golden Calf? America plunged into the water the moment we looked like drowning, but what can one think of a rescuer who will abandon without help the person whom he has just pulled from a watery grave?"—A. and N.Z.
