The "Chronicle" states that Mr Samuels has sworn out a. warrant against Quartermaster Ducrest, charging him with the theft of the Sonoma's gold.
Ducrest; has escaped, but the police, who believe they are on the trail, expect to arrest him shortly.—A. and N.Z.
