GYMNASIUM PROJECT,
A movement is now well on foot to > provide a gymnasium for the district. At a recent meeting of residents, convend <by Staff Sergt.-Ma jor S. A. Noblej it wa*- resolved to go forward in this matter, and the following were ap- ; poinlcd.a committee of residents to secure funds: —Messrs M. N. Skelton, G. Wright, C. H. Jenkins, E. R. Jenkins, R. C. Galbraith, J. Stirling, A. E. Laing, C. Qu.aife, Peat, H. H. .Sutherland, E. A, ' Fcnwick, T. E. Butler, E. G. Aickin, F. B. Black well, G. Smith, R. Coates, R, ' J. Baff, ,S. Dodds, J. B. Ariell, W. H. i Wilkins, H. Hook, R. Smith, senr., H. 1 Rossiter, Revs. R. A. McDonald, C. H. Ivendon and F. Latter, and Dr. Dukes. A second committee was appointed to control the institution when establshed, as follows:—Messrs C. Smith, J. L. Guiness, A. Blaekwell, S. Smith, A. H. Noble, F. Wright and D. Stirling. A campagn for funds is on foot, the sum of £50 being aimed at to secure necesary equipment and Commence operations. Mr A. H. Noble undertakes the work of instructor, Mr Clivc K. iSmith is appointed secretary and Mr N. Elley treasurer. The membership fee has been fixed at 5s per annum, and the Defence Department has granted the use of the Gai'rison Hall free for practices. A concert and dance is projected in aid of the funds.
