WELLINGTON, This Day

The probability of the Hon. A. M. Myers retiring from politics at an early date having been reported, that gentleman explains that as he has not yet quite recovered from the effects of his recent accident, the result of a fall from a tramcar, it will be impossible for him to be present at the opening of Parliament on Thursday, and he is applying for a fortnight's leave of absence. "As to the future," added Mr Myers, "I am consulting my medical adviser, and until I hear from him 1 nave no further statement to make." —Press Assn.
