HUGE MOTOR COMBINE
! £8,000,000 CAPITAL. AN AMERICAN AMALGAMATION. Advice has just come to hand from Ameiica that the amalgamation of Maxwell Motor Company and Chalmers Motor Company interests, has been completed. This powerful combination, operating six great plants in four cities, represents one of the strongest car-manufacturing: concerns in the United States. iSome of the most prominent men in the motor world are now identified with the new Maxwell.'Chajmers organisat'on. The six great plants have been brought up to a high state of proficiency, and maufacturing practices greatly improved. The banks and interests concerned in the up. build'ng of these properties have introduced fresh capital, bringing the total capitalisation up to Forty Million Dollars (or about £8,000,000). Desp'te the "slump year" experienced by all manufacturing combines, 15y500 Maxwell and Chalmers cars were sold between July 1920 and March 1'921 (March alone totalling 2000). The schedules for April and May were for 3000 cars each month. 233
