MINING IMPASSE
OWNERS CONCEDE OON(FiERENCE. EXPECTED TO BE FUTILE. FAILING MODIFIED DEMANDS. ' (Special Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The coal mine owners, at the suggestion of the Prime Minister, have agreed to confer with the miners, though they say it must be clearly understood that they cannot conceive of any arguments that will modify their decision that it is impossible to agree to the extreme demands already made by the Miners' tionThe conference probably will take place on April 1-5, the date suggested by the owners. Well informed opinion is that unless the miners abandon their demands, which they refuse to do. the conference is bound to be abortive. In that case the situation will be difficult.
