FLEET'S VISIT UNCERTAIN.

WASHINGTON, March 18

The Government has not so far announced that an American fleet will visit Australia and New Zealand. / The Australian Press Association learns that the 'Secretary of the Navy, Mr Denby, has not yet decided to send an American' fleet on a tour of Australian and New Zealand waters. It will be recalled that Mr ■Daniels, ex-Secretary of the Navy, last autumn, stated that he contemplated such a tour, but the defeat of Mr Wilson immediately put the plans into abeyance. Mr Denhy. who himself, plans a three weeks' inspection tour of the fleet in the Pacific, is somewhat concerned over the cost of a trip to Australia. It is understood that if the expenses are not very large, he may approve of Mr Daniels' plans, with some modifications. A definite announcement is not yet forthcoming.—A. and N.Z.
