Mr John William Mac Donald, at pi'esent Assistant Public Trustee, has been appointed to the position of Public Trustee at Auckland. The Hon. W. Downie Stewart, M.P., who ha s accepted an appointment in the Cabinet, look his oath as a Minister of the Crown in Wellington yes. tei'day and later attended his first Cabinet meeting. The Minister's health ha s improved considerably late ly and permits him more activity than was possible a few months ago. iMr A. E. McMahon who left Whangavei in his launch Biddy Early last Saturday week, returne'd overland by mo : tov car Ifrom Mangonui yesterday. Mr McMahon had been unwell during the cruise and his retui'n home was advised by a do'ctor at Mangonui. Hp arrived at the en'd o'f h>i 3 150 miles', motor run without suffering ill-effects from the long journey.
