Mr. Dooley, speaking at the Bathurst Eight-Hour Day dinner, said that the Government was prepared to appeal to th e people if the Profiteering Bill were rejected by the Upper House.

Mr. Storey ? interviewed subsequently, said that h e did not contemplate an early election. He anticipated no opposition in the Upper House, and in any case the Government would increase ,the Legislative Council strength before seeking $ dissolution.—A. and N.Z,.
