SEEKING A WAY OUT.

SANER METHOD ADVISED,

(Received 9.30 a.m.)

LONDON, Oct. 17.

There is great activity in leading Labour circles with a view to finding a formula providing a way out. The delegates are urging the nailwaymen and transport workers to >be quiescent ujitil Parliament has spoken. Mr Thomas will move an adjournment of the House of Commons to thrash out the situation in open debate.

iMr Asquith, at Newcastle, said that as an old friend he appealed to the patriotism of the miners to find a saner and more humane method than a disastrous strike.—A. and N.Z.
