A case which caused a lit'tl c amusement was called in the New Plymouth Magistrate's Court the other morning, when counsel for the debtor»in a judgment summons said it was clearly a case in which the lawyers were "milking the cows.' , A native was proceeded against for a defbt of £2 10s which it was stated had been incurred fpr car hire. -For, the de'btpr -it was stated that though he had certain property he did not think it would be sufficient to permit him to discharge all his present liabilities but *' me wera given he thought the debt would discharged. At present he was engaged in dairy farming, and twofifths of his milk cheques came to his counsel, and th e other three-fifths went to another firm of solicitors. It was explained, of course, that the solicitors received the money on account of clients. An arrangement had been made whereby the debtor received £2 per week, and with this *6um ho had to maintain, a wife, and several childm. Ultimately an order for the amount was consented to, on /the understanding that it cpuld not be executed fpr six months..
