FARMER, OPHTHALMIC OPTICIAN, D.8.0.A., Lond.Univ.(By Exam.) Foster's Pharmacy, Whangarei 778 I , , 1 gTRANGE EVIDENCE 500,000 BLOOD SUCKERS AT WORK. HTHE other day on a farm not a hundred miles from Auckland a milking cow was found dead, having fallen over a bank. It was noticed that dinging to the end of almost every hair of the cow's hide were innumerable lice. An effort was made to roughly estimate their numIber, and by taking a patch six inches square and counting them and multiplying the remaining space a conservative estimate put the number of lice on the cow in question at the incredible number of half a million. A farmer present made the observation that alimost half the cows In the Waikato were infected with lice in the Winter and early Spring, and also that in his opinion this reduced their milk yield at least onequarter. Just reckon the astounding waste: If half the herds in the country are infected with lice, and a quarter of their yield lost to the farmer, it means that thousands of pounds every year go to feed these hungry parasites. Here, then is a remedy: Buy a tin of "THOMPSON'S LICERINE" and smear a little down the animal's back. "Lieerine" kills them all. An absolutely new preparation—wonderful in its results. Effective on cattle, horses and pigs. For Cattle Ticks Apply small quantity on affected parts. Obtainable at all Stores, or 21b. sample tin posted on receipt of 3/6.
