UNIQUE WOOL FAIR.

The ,un : que wool fair 'has again been held at Inverness, Scotland, and this year peace found it showing renewed vitality. It is unique because thousands of sheep there change bands without a single animal being exhibited. Sales are made solely on the word and reputation of the seller, whose .ancestors before him sold sheep at this same Highland gathering in the days gone by. And the word of such a man is as gobd as as his bond. The character of his. farm and hill pastures, • and the class of sheep they produce, are well known to the prospective buyer, so that he does not feel that he is taking changes in purchasing without seeing a sample sheep. Many thousands of sheep and bales of wool changed hands this year, and prices were never so high. All the sales were made on honesty, integrity, good faith and family reputation. What a record to the credit of these sturdy shepherds of tne hilils! One almost would account it idealism.; but it is a fact, and since time immemorial sheep have been sold in this " 'pon honour" way, ',-.) the old grey 'market place of Inverness, by men from the same hill farms, to men of the same names and clans as those to whom their forbears sold. The Chicago Breeders' Gazette, from which the above statement is reproduced, adds: — "The world do move," but happily some good old traditions remain. Good faith and honesty in selling are among them.
