QUICK SERVICE
ON MAIN TRUNK LINE
BY ADOPTING NEW LINK
FOXTON, This Day,
A meeting of the Borough Council and the Chamber of Commerce last night decided to urge upon the Government the linking 'up of th e Main Trunk line between Marton or Greatford and Levin, to relieve the congested traffic at Palmerston and to obviate the huge expenditure on the Palmerston deviation.
It was pointed out that th e linking up would shorten the journey between Auckland and Wellington by over an hour, and that the saving m haulage alone would pay interest on the construction.
It was decided to hold a conference of local bodies to further discuss the matter, and in the meantime to communicate with the Prime Minister and Members of Parliament. —■ Press Assn.
