The conference of employers aad strikers proved abortive. There will bo no stoppage of work by the sewerage employees, as their demands have been conceded. There has been a great rush on lamp shops, though only a small proportion of the demand has been met. The prices of lighting material ara rising rapidly.. There are now fifteen thousand idle, —A. and N.Z.
