POLES' ADVANCE.
KTJEFF STILL UN TAKEN,
ACCORDING TO BOLSHEVIKS.
(Received 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, May 6. A Bolshevik official message says that their troops have not evacuated Kieff. They are fortifying the west of the town. —A. and N.Z.
Though the Polish offensive into Russian territory has started well, the Poles arc confronted with a hard task, and uneasiness continues to be expressed in the London Press lest the intial victories should blind them, regarding the perilous possibilities of prccipitato action. That tho Polish Government's action is not wholly supported is evidenced by advices from Warsaw, which state that M. Gaubski, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, resigned after an excited discussion, in which he,attacked tho Government's policy in the Ukraine. The committee eventually passed a vote of confidence in tho Government. —Reuter.
M. Krassin, head of the Russian trade delegation, in an interview in Copenhagen, said all the Soviet Republics would take up the Polish gauntlet. He was confident of the result now that tho Soviets wore again in possession of petroleum and coal. It is reported from Kovno that Poland has concluded a secrot agreement with Finland. This has alarmed Lithuania, Lattvia, and Esthonia, who may combine in mutual defence against tho new triplice of Finland, Poland, and tho Ukraine. —Reuter.
